is it illegal to install electric cable from the main circuit board?
i have moved in to a house and the wiring has been laid on the floor around the skirting board. i would of thought it had to be installed into the wall for the socket points. please can anyone help me? thank you
i am assuming you are in UK, cables going to wall sockets (13amp) ring main, should be within the wall from bellow upwards into the socket box then continue down hidden in the wall to the next socket. this is all covered in the iee regulations. get an electrican to do the job properly before the cable gets damaged -fire hazard - electric shock - etc. it is illegal. if the property is rented, contact the landlord/agent, it is his responsibility to ensure it is safe.
