LCD light on ipod touch?
I got my ipod water damaged and i want to fix it. The screen is all black and it doesn't turn the light on. Do i have to changed the LCD or can i just get repair at ipodjuice.com for water damage repair?
Apple isn't going to do anything for water damage. They'll offer you a refurb. However, if there are none in stock (like right now) they tell you to just keep checking back. The EXACT same thing happened to me. I called about a month ago and didn't have the money for a refurb. I called today and talked to a guy who said there are only two shuffles and a nano available in the refurbished ones and that I should keep checking back. He did, however, give me a couple of tips. #1: He said if you ever get water on your ipod, take a big bowl and fill it with white rice. Put the ipod in the middle of the bowl somewhere, but completely immersed. He said this has been known to take care of it after it stays like that for about 12-24 hours. And #2: He referred me to ipodjuice.com (although he made sure to tell me over and over again that he's really not supposed to give me any of these hints). I'm going to be sending my ipod into ipodjuice.com. I called and asked how it works. The guy said initially you pay $9 for a diagnostic, then $4 for return shipping. However, if you choose to have them fix it, they take the $9 off of the repair cost, which is $100 for a LCD backlight. He said it'd take about three to five business days for everything to be complete. The only thing you pay up front is the $13, and the rest you pay when you authorize them to fix it. I'd say give it a go. Or wait a week and a half and email me and ask me how it went.
