Ram Rambus
What is this RAM-like-strip?
It has "HYM566A410ATNG-60 " on one face and Hyundai Korea on the other. There are 168 pins and it looks like a RAM strip but for the world of me I am not able to check its value and if it really is a RAM, and whether its DDR, SDR, or RamBus.
Can anyone with greater knowledge please help.
It's defnitiely RAM, probably SDRAM or DDR like the above poster said but I can't tell just from the manufacturer's part #.
The first link shows pictures of what different types of RAM look like. Unfortunately that page is kinda old, so there's no DDR or DDR2 shown.
The 2nd link shows DDR2 compared to DDR - They're the same overall size but DDR2 has 240 pins/contacts instead of 184.
The 3rd link shows SDRAM vs DDR.
If your mystery RAM isn't the right form factor for your computer, it just won't fit into the slot- the notches would be in the wrong locations. And as the previous poster said if it fits but isn't the right speed rating, it might just casue the computer to beep until you remove it. No harm in trying.
